SALRC Chair

  • Senior leadership role influencing the research, development and adoption investment direction of the Australian red meat and livestock industry

The Southern Australia Livestock Research Council (SALRC) is an independent Incorporated Association and one of three Research Advisory Councils set up to provide advice on research, development and adoption (RD&A) priorities for Australian grass fed beef and sheep meat industries. In addition SALRC provides advice to Meat and Livestock Australia’s Red Meat Panel and acts as a conduit for the flow of information from and to grass roots producers.

We seek applications from suitable persons for the role of SALRC Chair to lead and facilitate a team of Regional Committee Chairs, alongside the SALRC Secretariat (SALSEC) in the development of annual RD&A priorities.

As the successful candidate, you must have significant knowledge and experience in the beef and/or sheep meat industries and an understanding of each industry’s RD&A needs and challenges. You will lead an experienced and passionate team of Regional Committee Chairs utilising your executive level skills in managing and facilitating meetings, networking, negotiating and mentoring peers and other stakeholders.

This challenging role will also require active participation in a number of consultative committees and a commitment to attend periodic meetings involving SALRC core business across the SALRC regions.

The expected time commitment is 60-80 days per annum, plus travel. An honorarium will be paid.
